Howdy Week

Howdy Week is a campus-wide affair that offers incoming students a chance to sample activities and resources before classes begin, to get to know roommates and classmates, and to become acclimated to the campus physically so that when classes begin the following week, students feel comfortable and can concentrate on starting their academic endeavors well. To learn more about the ways our students are welcomed to campus, please see the Howdy Week schedule

The majority of the all-LC events in Howdy Week will be first-come first-served. Registration is requested for the LC Welcome on August 20 because refreshments will be served.

All-LC Howdy Week Programs

The LAUNCH: Learning Communities All-LC Howdy Week programs aim to extend the networks of our participating students by providing cross-over events where members of different communities mix for a specific activity.

This year, the line-up includes: Getting Information at Table

LC-Specific Howdy Week Programs

Students Balancing a Ball in a String hoop

Each learning community includes an event(s) for kick-off and/or orientation to begin the year together. These programs are by invitation-only so that you get to know your cohort better, meet your peer mentors and learn more about your LC.

Please check with your specific LC Program Coordinator if you are unsure which programs are required and which are optional.

Living Learning Programs

If you are living in one of the Living-Learning Programs affiliated with LAUNCH, please introduce yourself to your hall neighbors and watch for information about your LLP or hall-specific programs during Howdy Week and throughout the year. The learning community's LLP hall is likely to be the site for LC-related activities and opportunities.
