The LAUNCH office at Texas A&M University is seeking an experienced part-time student assistant to assist in defining the office’s brand identity as well as the individual personalities of its programs through the development of various marketing assets. In accordance with the Texas A&M Brand, and under the guidance of a Program Coordinator, this intern will assist in the planning, creation, and implementation of the LAUNCH brand through different media and marketing campaigns. 

Position Details:

  • Work Days/Times: M-F, 8-5
  • Hours Per Week: Minimum of 12
  • Wage/Salary: $12.00 per hour
  • Number of Positions Available: 1
  • Start Date: Late-July to Early-August

Applicants must:

  • Be able to eloquently express their creative vision for the office, work comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, team environment, and be open to constructive criticism and feedback.
  • Utilize strong written skills and bring effective visual ideas and narratives from concept through to completion using a wide range of tools and resources, including but not limited to the Adobe Creative Suite.

The LAUNCH office has an extremely broad audience ranging from high school students and their parents to Former Students and the Board of Regents, so applicants must be able to strategically analyze the trends of today to deliver fresh approaches to advertising in higher education.

Job Responsibilities

  • Meet with and field input by members of each working group in LAUNCH, as well as students in LAUNCH programs, to identify areas in which a shared narrative can be formed and the most effective means of reaching specific audiences.
  • Assist in the ongoing development of a brand guide and associated brand assets for the LAUNCH office and LAUNCH programs that demonstrates the office’s unique identity with built-in flexibility that allows for individual programs to customize their images while still adhering to the Texas A&M Brand.
  • Assist in the development of effective and comprehensive marketing campaigns for the LAUNCH office through the creation of graphics, illustrations, logos, websites, publications (including Explorations), videos, and all associated written content (including targeted social content), using modern design concepts for both print and digital media.
  • Perform creative, technical, and administrative duties associated with the creation, evaluation, and publication of promotional materials and messages under the guidance of a Program Coordinator. This includes but is not limited to creating new content, revising existing content, presenting and proofing content prior to publication, coordinating with vendors, and distributing content.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator or LAUNCH: UGR Associate Director.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience with social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, and others
  • Experience with social media management platforms, such as Hootsuite
  • Experience with HTML and responsive web design
  • Experience with video and audio editing
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Eager to take the initiative in getting assistance and making suggestions
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Attention to detail, time management skills, exceptional initiative & follow-through skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, team environment
  • Ability to work remotely with access to the internet

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in additional Adobe Creative Suite programs such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, and Dreamweaver, as well as the use of plugins
  • Experience with WordPress or other blog platforms
  • Experience with photography, photo editing, and retouching/resizing images
  • Prior knowledge of undergraduate research programming in higher education
  • Prior experience with the Explorations journal
  • Proficiency in writing and editing copy for marketing materials
  • Familiarity with email marketing programs, such as eNewsletter Pro, Google Groups, and/or the university’s listserv management system
  • Familiarity with best practices in accessibility, including web accessibility and universal design
