The Honors Housing Community (HHC) is the cornerstone of the University Honors Program first-year experience and provides a true living-learning community with an interdisciplinary mix of high-achieving and highly-motivated students.
First year students accepted to the University Honors Program are required to live in the Honors Housing Community located in the McFadden|Lechner Honors Freshman Halls. First year Honors students are randomly assigned a roommate to facilitate a diverse learning experience and encourage students to develop broad points of view. Under highly limited circumstances, students may seek an exemption from this requirement (e.g., Corps of Cadets, legally required exemptions, etc.). Starting in Fall 2025, the Honors Housing Community will be an option for first-year students, but no longer required.
Students in HHC help each other to grow personally, professionally, and academically through a weekly seminar that has them identify their values and articulate those in relationship to their long-term goals. In addition to the seminar, first year students benefit from living with other similarly motivated students and sharing the experience in small "family" groups.
